First Haircut...sortof

This weekend I decided I would shape up Evan's hair.
He has grown the most precious curls, and I
am quite attached. They bounce behind him as he walks...
do I have to say more?
Attached.

I have been thinking lately that he needs a little trim,
and I have planned exactly how I would do it for months.
Attached.
So, I did it this weekend... and to my complete horror
(remember attached?)
the curls were gone. There were some nice little waves
in their place, and Evan is as cute as ever...
but the curls (sniff) are (sniff sniff) gone (sob!).

I still have hope they will grow back when his hair gets
a bit longer, but we'll see. I am adjusting I'm glad to say.
So, after a few days to recover, I decided the confidence
of a good professional haircut is what I need right now.

So... here we go! Here is Evan before his cut...
(Seriously, I only trimmed like 1/2 of an inch! It looks
like a ton more, but I have the proof in a plastic baggie).
Attached...I know.

Here he is sitting in his police car, drugged by Dora.
He loved sitting in the car.

It was fun to see him so big.
Here he is after his cut. These folks have it down,
they know how to make toddlers stay still! He
looks so cute and I am loving his new look.
As you can see, I am adjusting well. :)
Hello cutie!

It was a typical Friday...

...and then we went to the Lazy 5 Ranch!
Oh my goodness... where to even begin.
We went to hang out with our good buddies Janelle
and JT. We wanted to do something new and exciting...
so, we headed up to the Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville...aka Africa.

It was wild! Truly... There were all kinds of animals,
everywhere roaming free. You can take a wagon ride
(trust us, just take the wagon ride)
and feed the animals... or you can drive through.

I should have suspected driving through may not be the
best course of action when we saw multiple "Enter at
your own risk" signs. Still feeling adventurous...
we did. And were "welcomed" by swarms of animals
half of which I have no idea of the name.

It went something like this:
Janelle trying to stay cool while the antelope/deer? said hello.
Hello! Excuse me and Hello!
Though we did not have food, the animals did not get the memo
and treated us as if we did. Here is what that looks like.
Hello wildlife!
Yes, that is at least two llamas, a deer like animal, pig, goat
and goose in this one picture.
PS: I hate llamas.
Janelle was totally committed to making this an
educational experience-teaching is in her blood.
So as I sat and laughed until tears were streaming
down my face...she kept her cool and
said, "boys, do you see the llama?"
"JT, do you see the moose/deer?"
It was hysterical and totally worth it for the laughs...
however I would recommend waiting until your children
are 8 and taking the wagon. Lesson learned.

Liar Liar...

...pants on fire! I thought I had better
get another pumpkin patch set of pictures up
before my faithful readers started shouting...
"Liar liar pants on fire!"

So here they are. This awesome pumpkin patch has
a tractor pulled hay ride to a barn where you can
feed animals. Fun!
This is E squealing in delight...
right before he popped that poor sheep right in the face!
No worries, I was there to protect that poor sheep from
my toddler!

Fascinated with his hay ride in the covered wagon.

Trying to decide which pumpkin to move next.
A little snack before heading home.

Hat

Here's Evan sporting his new hat.
Translation:
Evan: "Where is...the hat?"
Me: On the floor?
Evan: "Nooooo"
Me: "Is the hat on your head?"
Evan: big smile.
Approval given by Gus.
It comes off and goes on?!?
Translation:
Evan: "Where is the hat now?"
Me: "Is the hat on your head?"
Evan: "Noooo"
Me: "Is it on the floor?"
Evan: big smile.
(We do this all day long.)

Time flies...

One year ago here are the pictures we snapped at
the pumpkin patch. So small, so round, so bald!

This year Evan was not interested in standing next
to a pumpkin so much as moving pumpkins all around.
Here he is hard at work. Time sure does fly!

More on the pumpkin patch to come...
