Hot off the press here is a classic word for word
conversation with Evan. I hope you enjoy.
The scene: its after naps, he's had a good one and
he's in a great mood. I hear him talking to himself
in his room. I enter and he's having a conversation
with his "friends" (aka stuffed animals).
Me: "Hi Evan, I missed you!"
Evan: "Is it time to get up?"
Me: "yes"
Evan: (with a very serious face) "do you know any songs
about insects?"
Me: (delighted with my quick response) "yes!" (begin
singing) "I'm bringing home a baby bumble-bee!..."
Evan: "no! That is a song about just one flying insect...not
insectS"
Me: (laughing and realizing that I will only be able to keep up with
him til he's about 5 years old) "hmm, you're right, do you know another
song about insects?"
Evan: (begins improvising) "Flying cicadas go like this...bzz bzz trrr trrr bzzz"
and the song continues...
Who is this boy? He cracks me up!

Great story...I can just hear him making up his song. Not about just any generic "insects", but "cicadas" no less!!
He certainly has a knack for creating the world as he wants it to be. Love him.
Wow! I am impressed that a 3 year old already knows the difference in a singular noun and a plural noun. His English teacher is going to love him!
